Today, along with other approaches, I am teaching my clients the skill of Mindfulness, based on the work of Pat Ogden, Ph.D., in somatic psychotherapy. The Mindfulness I teach is not a meditation technique, but the ability to sit passively and reflect on what is going on with you internally. What are your feelings, thoughts, sensations, reactions, memories, etc.? What is coming into your mind, or happening in your body? The skill of Mindfulness allows you to tap into your rich inner resources by working with the body and with breathing.
The beauty of the skill of Mindfulness is that it becomes something you can then take with you into each day. With practice in Mindfulness, you’ll experience your life more deeply and more meaningfully. You’ll be more present and available in the moment. You’ll have more joy and delight in your life. You’ll also develop more resiliency for dealing with disappointments, hurts and sorrows. In addition, you’ll find that your self-esteem and relationships with others become strengthened too.
